The people of Sier were cramped for space in the church of Notre-Dame des Marais, which is why the church of Sainte-Catherine was built in the 17th century.
The centrepiece of the church's furnishings is the high altar, inspired by that of St Peter's in Rome.
The choir vault features a stucco decoration consisting of a cartouche (a sculpted ornament in the shape of a half-rolled map) with Sainte-Catherine in the centre.
The church was restored between 1991 and 1996.
