Concert by Alice Burla, a pianist originally from Toronto, at the Town Hall in Sierre.
Born in Toronto, Alice Burla was one of the youngest students ever accepted to Juilliard School at the age of 6. From 2013 to 2016, she studied with the legendary teacher Dmitri Bashkirov at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, before moving to Basel in 2016 to continue her studies with Claudio Martínez Mehner and Anton Kernjak. She has recently performed in recitals at the Dubai Opera, Carnegie Hall, Teatro la Fenice, and the World Economic Forum, as well as in major festivals such as the DAVOS Festival, Musikdorf Ernen, Verbier Festival Academy, and the International Sommerakademie Mozarteum. Alice has appeared as a soloist with the Brooklyn Philharmonic, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, Donetsk Philharmonic Orchestra, Torun Symphony Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra Amadeus. The 26-year-old pianist, described as an "extraordinary talent" by the New York Times, recently completed a Swiss tour performing Clara Schumann's piano concerto with the Schweizer Jugend Sinfonie Orchester under the direction of Mario Venzago at the Tonhalle in Zurich, Stadtcasino in Basel, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Casino in Bern, and LAC in Lugano. In addition to her solo career, Alice currently performs with cellist Daniel Müller-Schott. Passionate about chamber music, she has also collaborated with Maxim Vengerov, Peter Eötvös, Eduard Brunner, and Silvia Simionescu.
